Are you relying on outdated electrics to keep you safe?

Back in 1946 the first combined radio and TV licence, costing £2, was issued. In June 1946 there were in the region of 1.5m to 3m licences issued.

In March 2004, there were 24.5m licences in force and today in 2016 the figure is even higher than that.

Now you may ask what the relevance of a TV licence is to this blog and it’s simply this…

Many local homes were built around the 1940s and 50s, around the same time as the TV licences were introduced, homes generally had electrics that are now seen as very old, sometimes only having 1 or two socket outlets in each room.

Sound familiar? There are many homes with electrics still in use today that were installed back in these early days of TV.

Now the number of TV licences as grown at least 25 times and that is probably safe to implement in electrical accessories used in the home, how many of us have not only TVs but chargers, lamps, blenders, microwaves, fish tanks, DVD, computers, printers, the list goes on.

Bearing in mind the electrics could have been installed over 60 years ago that is a lot of extra demand of the electrical installations in our homes.

Extension leads are only a temporary means of getting power from one place to another and not a permanent solution.

If you are concerned for the extra demand you may be placing on your homes electrics and find yourself plugging extension leads into extension leads then you should consider having additional outlets installed.
