Stop or the Shopping Will Defrost!

Hi I am a Local Electrician in Bexley, Bromley, Sevenoaks and Dartford.

Welcome to The tales of an electrician...

A blog that takes a look on the day to day goings on of your local electrician but not, thankfully written every day.

Starting out like any other day saw the completion of several small local electrical jobs, things like changing switches and sockets, around 1 oclock I received a frantic phone call.

I say frantic as the lady was having multiple conversations at the same time, and shouting in a panic at me. From what I could make out the main issue was…

The shopping was going to defrost, £400 worth had just turned up and here it is all going to defrost because there is no power in the kitchen sockets.

These issues can sometimes be simple fixes or depending on the findings, a little more difficult to solve.

Once I had the details, address into the sat nav and on my way, I arrived around 15 mins later in which time the weather had become unbelievably hot, pulling up outside I knocked and no answer, they were in, I could hear them but they couldn’t hear me, after a few minutes of knocking they finally come to door, there was no shade so this time was spent getting hotter.

We had a look at the sockets and completed the usual checks, the issue was located to an electrical point at the back of the dishwasher.

The dishwasher glue had become hot and melted all over the point and caused the RCD to trip.

The point was replaced, dishwasher put back into place leaving a small gap and shopping was saved.

Just another day in the life of a Kent electrician.

Although the story is real, the names and locations have been changed to protect the innocent
